Congratulations to the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild World Beer Cup 2008 Winners
Brewers from five continents earned awards from an international panel of judges at the 2008 Brewers Association World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA. Held every other year at the Craft Brewers Conference, the seventh bi-annual competition announced awards for brewers from 21 countries ranging from Australia and Italy to Bolivia and Japan and, of course, the state of Illinois in the good old USA.
"Brewers all over the world participate in order to win recognition for their creativity and brewing ability," said Charlie Papazian, President of the Brewers Association, the U.S.-based trade association that has organized the competition, often called the "Olympics of Beer," held every two years since 1996. In 2010, the World Beer Cup comes to Chicago and Illinois brewers will be ready once again!
