Beer Tasting — 05 September 2012

So many Illinois breweries and brewpubs have events going on for Oktoberfest.. Do you know what your local brewer is up to? We started a list of Member breweries that are celebrating the best drinking season of the year! Of course, for most of us, any season is an excellent season to drink craft beer. This list will be updated as information keeps rolling in. Here you go… prost!


1. Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant – Sept 11th 5-9pm


2. DESTIHL Sept. 15th, Sept. 22nd

Join DESTIHL- Normal as we celebrate Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 15th – rain or shine! Featuring authentic German music and dancing from the Peoria Area Accordion Club, the Peoria Volkstanzer, the Wilanna Vogel Trio and the Maria Merkelo Polka Trio. Bavarian-influenced menu features that will be available all day.
2. Atlas Brewing Co. Sept. 13th 5-close
We are tapping our Oktoberfest 9/13 with a “Bring Your Own Stein” party, where we will fill steins (up to 1L) for $5.


3. Wild Onion Brewing Co.  Sept. 14, 15, 16
We will be pouring beer at the Palatine Octoberfest  in downtown Palatine! It is very acessible from the Metra Line seeing as though its thrown in the street right next to the station. This Octoberfest is about as legit as it gets. Authentic German music, German food, a ceremonial firkin tapping the first day of our Octoberfest are just some of stuff going on.


4. Rock Bottom – Orland Park Sept. 20th 6pm
Rock Bottom Orland Park will be tapping Rocktoberfest on Thursday September 20th at 6pm in association with the South Suburban Humane Society. This charity event will see their servers and bartenders in traditional dress, a pet adoption and a finger buffet of German appetizers. We will also have live music from Eric from the Band Rendition.

5. Revolution Brewery 9/22  3-8pm

3-8 pm at the Kedzie Production Brewery (3340 N. Kedzie, Chicago, IL 60618). Tickets for our big Fall event cost $35 each and include a huge 1L commemorative glass stein full of our Oktoberfest Revolution beer. Additionally, there will be live music (The Polkaholics, The Waco Brothers, and Sybris), a smattering of free carny games, traditional German food for sale (including veggie alternatives), and a “who’s who” of Revolution’s favorite brews including the release of our Institutionalized barley wine.


6. Atlas Brewing Co. Sept. 25th 7pm

We’re having an Oktoberfeast at 7pm on 9/25! It will be a beer dinner and will cost $55 a head. More details as they come in!


7. Goose Island – Wrigleyville Sept. 27th 7-9pm

Goose Island Wrigleyville brewpub is hosting its annual Oktoberfest celebration with the premiere of the Goose Island Brewpubs’ Oktoberfest beer! Join us to fill up on some of your favorite German food, win Goose Island prize packages and dance the night away to your favorite polka music from “The Chardon Polka Band“.

$25 all-inclusive food and beer package from 7-9pm.  If the weather is right, you can guarantee we’ll be celebrating in the beer garden!

No RSVP is required. 21+ only.


8. Haymarket Pub & Brewery 9/29 — 2-6pm

$45 includes music, samples of 5 housemade sausages paired with 5 artisanal cheeses and 10 hand crafted german-style brews from Solemn Oath, Piece, 3 Floyd’s, Half Acre, Revolution, rock bottom, metropolitan and Haymarket.


9. Flossmoor Station 9/29 — 2-11pm
We’re releasing Shadows in the Smoke Oktoberfest, which has a small amount of beechwood smoked malt added to give it a puff of smoke cutting thru its malty body.  Music, Bier ein Mass, and a German buffet will be served in healthy portions!


10. Tighthead Brewing Sept. 29th 5-10pm

An evening of great beer, food and music! Beers will include the release of our first Oktoberfest Marzen style lager, the return of the Maibock, and your favorite Tighthead standards. Vendors will provide a variety of food options and music will be provided by “Unfiltered” and headliners “The Head Honchos.” $10 gets you into the fest and a commemorative festival glass. Beer and food tickets will be sold separately.

11. Emmett’s Brewing Co. Oct. 14th-16th, Oct. 27th

Emmett’s will be featuring their Oktoberfest lager at Heritage Fest in West Dundee Oct. 14-15-16.  It’s a community fall festival that takes place literally at their back door.

All three breweries (West Dundee, Palatine, and Downers Grove) have produced an Oktoberfest lager and will have tapping parties at all locations on 10-27.  All made with German malt and hops, full-bodied, malty, and 6.0% abv.  One batch only per location, so it’s sure to go fast!
